The Foundation’s activities
The Olsburgh Smile Foundation aims to promote and improve the quality of orthodontic care and to help make such care accessible throughout Switzerland, mainly in French-speaking part of Switzerland.
Continuing Education for Orthodontic Specialists
Staying true to Dr. Olsburgh's vision, the Foundation has chosen to focus primarily on education, believing that sharing knowledge is a key driver for improving the quality of care.
Every two years, it organizes a continuing education day for orthodontists, dentists, and orthodontic postgraduates. During these events, internationally renowned professors, particularly from the United States and recognized as leading experts in their field, give a full-day training.
The Foundation's first event was held on 15 December 2023, with Prof. Glenn T. Sameshima (University of Southern California). On 4 April 2025, the Foundation then had the privilege of welcoming Prof. Greg J. Huang (University of Washington). The next training day will take place on 16 April 2027, with Prof. Tung Nguyen (University of North Carolina). Registration will open in January 2027.
Training for Dental Assistants
Since 2024, the Foundation has also been offering an annual training program for dental assistants who are currently working, or wish to work, in orthodontic practices.
These trainings are very popular and meet a growing need for professional development in this field. You can find more information by checking the pages dedicated to the 2024 and 2025 trainings. The next session will take place on 10 October 2026 in Geneva. Registration is now open here.
Postgraduate Exchange Program
The Foundation also supports the development of academic exchanges with the United States. Thanks to its initiative, an informal exchange program for postgraduate orthodontic students has been set up between the University of Geneva School of Dental Medicine and the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California. The first exchange took place in February 2025, followed by a second edition in February 2026.
Starting with the 2026–2027 academic year, candidates will be able to apply to participate in the next exchange, which will take place in February 2027.
